Welcome to Sofra Turkish Mediterranean Grill

40 Melville St, Pittsfield, MA 01201, United States

General Info

Tucked away at Sofra Turkish Mediterranean Grill, this cozy restaurant brings a warm, inviting slice of Turkish and Mediterranean flavor right into the heart of Pittsfield. From the moment you step in-or even place an order for no-contact delivery-you get the sense that this spot takes both food and hospitality seriously.

The menu feels thoughtfully curated, balancing comfort with authenticity. One of the standout bites I kept coming back to was the 2 Piece Icli Kofte. It’s rich, slightly crispy on the outside, and filled with a savory interior that makes every bite feel layered and satisfying. If you’re exploring for the first time, this dish alone gives a strong impression of the kitchen’s attention to detail.

Then there are the wings-both the classic Chicken Wings and the Boneless Wings. They’re not just an afterthought here. Instead, they come out flavorful, well-seasoned, and perfect whether you’re grabbing takeout or settling in for dinner. It’s the kind of comfort food that works for a casual night but still feels elevated enough to recommend in any review.

For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert selection quietly steals the show. The Baklava is exactly what you’d hope for-flaky, nutty, and soaked in just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. Pair that with a slice of Bundt Cake, and you’ve got a dessert combo that rounds out the meal in a really satisfying way.

One thing that stands out about Sofra is how flexible it is for different dining needs. Whether you’re stopping by for dinner, ordering takeout, or opting for no-contact delivery, the service feels smooth and reliable. There are also solid vegetarian options on the menu, making it easy for mixed groups to find something they’ll enjoy. And if you’re driving in, the paid parking lot nearby keeps things convenient.

Overall, this restaurant feels like a dependable go-to in Pittsfield’s dining scene. It’s the kind of place where the menu, service, and overall experience come together naturally-something you notice more with each visit.

What customers say?

“ Didn’t know this place existed until not but apparently they have been there for about two years. The food is amazing and the owners are very nice and warming!!!! I will definitely be back!!!!! ”

“ Excellent food! So delicious! I wasn’t hungry at all but went in with my family. One bite and I was blown away! Couldn’t resist eating the whole plate. I had ordered the chicken shawarma plate and requested them to make it spicy. It was perfect! Came as a soft taco in a huge pita bread. The French fries were better than anywhere else. And the Turkish hot peppers, ooooh…, absolutely yummy! Cost wise- 4 entrees, 1 appetizer, 1 drink and 2 desserts- cost us $85 including tax. Atmosphere wise, if you care for ambience, do take out. The atmosphere is very plain and ordinary. But if you care more for hot, delicious food, you won’t find it a bother at all. Both Arif and Beraati were so courteous and hospitable. They were very patient and helpful as my teenage fired away questions on different dishes when ordering. Later when I complimented them on their food and the peppers, they gave me a small container full of peppers to take home, and also gave us tea to go, on the house. I loved the personal touch. Throughout my time sitting there, I saw them talking to everyone with my smile as they showed genuine interest in getting to know their clients. Highly recommend for the food and service. Bonus recommendation for the hospitality and friendliness. ”

“ Ordered a big meal for the whole family and it was done in 15 mins flat. They have delicious authentic flavored foods but also a kids meal that even my picky kids love. They have lots of appetizers and dessert and regular and turkish soda. Do yourself a favor and come here ASAP! ”

“ Not sure how we haven’t heard of Sofra before, but were excited to check it out after we learned of it. The service was so welcoming and kind! We ordered the chicken shawarma and, holy moly, it was delicious! We cannot wait to go back and try some other items. I highly recommend! Well done to the team here! ”

“ Their shawarma is absolutely phenomenal! Best shawarma I’ve had in the New England area period. This hidden treasure is better than any shawarma spot I’ve been to in the major cities. ”

“ Lived in Germany for four years where there is a large percentage of Turkish nationals, and this place is on par with, if not better, than any Turkish food I had over there. I had the grape leaves and the Kafka combo. Super delicious meat and the grape leaves are as good and flavorful as any I have ever had. Would definitely do take out again and would love to dine in when they open for it. ”

“ Absolutely delicious!!! I got the chicken shawarma, very tasty, perfect portion. The pistacho deserte was amazing. The owners are really nice ! I can’t wait for their new location! Highly reccomended. ”

“ Great food, very nice proprietor. I got the beef shawarma and my husband got the beef kabobs. Both were delicious and the french fries were piping hot. We ate in and were offered Turkish tea. Nice quiet dining area, but a little chilly inside. Tons of dessert choices. ”
